SARASOTA, Fla., May 31, 2011 - Neal Communities has committed to donate 1/4 percent of the closing price of every home sold in Canoe Creek to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County Foundation for the next 50 years. This applies to newly constructed homes as well as re-sales. The contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs could add up to several hundred thousand dollars over five decades.
This is the first time Neal Communities has made such an arrangement. “I think it shows our long term commitment to creating communities in Manatee and to being corporate philanthropists—even after I am no longer at the helm,” explains Neal Communities President Pat Neal. “We are all about creating sustainable communities, which are not only environmentally sustainable but are also socially sustainable. We are preserving the futures of our young people.”
Canoe Creek is a 300 acre community in Parrish along Golf Course Road. It includes two recreation areas, swimming pools and open space. The homes will be priced from the low $100,000s. The Parrish area is one of the fastest growing parts of Manatee County and has new infrastructure as well as services and schools.
“Neal Communities has long been a strong supporter of the Boys and Girls Club,” observes the non-profit’s president, Carl Weeks. “We appreciate their commitment to our children for many years ahead. This company represents the kind of business that makes Manatee a great place to live and raise a family.”
Over the years, Neal has supported the Boys & Girls Clubs through projects such as Gecko Fest, where the Neal gecko is now on the front of the DeSoto Boys & Girls Club. Recently, Neal Communities participated in the DeSoto Grand Parade by sponsoring the Boys & Girls Club’s float. Additionally, John Neal of John Neal Homes, part of the Neal Communities family of businesses, has raised thousands of dollars through the Kiss a Pig fund raiser event.
Neal Communities is recognized for its philanthropy in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. President, Pat Neal has also received Legislative Service Award, the Audubon Society Legislative Award, Award for Meritorious Public Service, The Lakewood Ranch Community Fund Humanitarian of the Year and many other awards and recognition for service and philanthropy.
